Mickey Mantle, the Commerce Comet, heralded No. 7, had explosive power in his bat, whether he swung from the right side of the plate or the left. He was a leader, the heart and soul of the greatest winning team in baseball history, the New York Yankees of the 1950s and 1960s. He hit 536 home runs in his career, placing him seventh on the all-time list. Many of these homers were among the longest and most majestic in baseball history.
