Biography

Mickey Charles Mantle was born on October 20, 1931 in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Mickey was born to play baseball, combining raw talent and his love for the game to become a legend.

In spite of a series of major injuries, Mantle accumulated a long list of accomplishments, finishing his 18-year career with 536 home runs and a .298 batting average. Known as the "Commerce Comet", he won three MVP awards and a Triple Crown (1956). Mickey contributed to 12 pennants and seven World Series titles in his first 14 seasons while establishing numerous World Series records, including most home runs (18).

Mickey died on August 13, 1995 in Dallas, Texas.
