To get a sense of
how much your web design project will cost, we will
ask you to fill in a simple online web design price
estimate form. We can then get back to you with a free high level
estimate, giving you an approximate idea of what the
relative cost would be.
If the proposed estimate
is within your expectations and you are serious in your
desire to have us design a web site for you, we will
spend the extra time and draft a more detailed contract
(Statement of Work), outlining every aspect of the
job. This document
also
covers your
legal rights in regards to domain names and ownership
of the coding as well as the exact deliverables of the
project.
- How much can I expect
to pay for a web site?
That depends entirely on how much work there is to
do and how much you can afford to spend. We pride
ourselves
on providing the best web site for our clients' budgets.
We have done sites for as little as $1000 up to as
much as $20,000. Since we provide estimated quotes
for all
of our work, you can get a sense of how much time
you can afford to spend on each phase of the development. During the
course of the project, we will give you frequently
updates as to the time spent on your project up to
that point.
- How
accurate are your quotes?
Our quotes are usually very accurate but that depends
upon a few factors. The more detailed information
we can
get
about the job
beforehand, the better. How quickly you as the
client can approve each phase of work before we
begin the
next and how far the actual job goes beyond the
original scope
of the project can all affect the final total cost
of the job. In the past, organized clients who
were able to approve work
and provide us with information in a timely manner
were able to complete their project under budget.
They reinvested
the extra money back into their site, either by
applying the excess budgeted time towards advanced
multimedia or functionality or web marketing. Most
of our quotes are usually right on the money but
in
a few
instances
the final
costs
were
either lower or in some cases, slightly higher
than the actual finished project, but only by a small
amount.
- What are your standard billing
policies?
For all projects, we require an initial deposit followed by payment at project
milestones, as mutually agreed upon in the development contract. These items
are addressed in our standard contact (Statement of Work). A Statement of Work
is ONLY created once a client feels comfortable and ready to proceed with
the project. If a Statement of Work is created and the project does not go
forward, a $50 surcharge is billed. If the Statement of Work is signed by client
and
the initial deposit agreed upon is paid, the $50 surcharge is waived. We bill
all web design projects on an hourly basis, rounded to the nearest 6 minute
increment.
- Why don't you provide flat rate/fixed
prices for your web design projects?
We bill all web design projects on an hourly basis,
the final cost reflecting the overtime time spent on
the project. This allows us to bill our clients only on
the time actually
spend on the project, thus avoiding
over billing our customers. We have, on occasion, charged
a "flat rate" for a project. This made the
billing/payment process simpler for the client, but
they did not gain
any cost benefits as our "flat rate" prices
jobs must be quoted higher in order to compensate for
any unknown
factors.
So why don't we give flat priced estimates? It is the
same reason why it is not the fairest arrangement if
you
go out with a friend for dinner and agree to "split
the bill down the middle". If you only have a
side salad and a glass of water and your friend orders
filet mignon and a glass of wine - you are paying much
more that your bargained for.
- Can we hire you to
just design our web site without programming it?
Yes. Since we provide estimated quotes for all our
services, you can plan your budget accordingly.
