You need to ask yourself
a few questions before thinking about getting involved
with a web design project.
Involvement:
Your involvement in the project will determine its overall
success. You should be able to commit between 3-5 hours
minimum per week for communications and approvals.
If you cannot be available, you should think about
giving the responsibility to another member of
your company to oversee the web design project. On
the other extreme, having TOO many people in involved
/overseeing the project and adding their "feedback"
may only serve to slow the process of the project down.
There should really be only one central project manager
that can work directly with one of our staff.
Content:
We will work with you to learn about your company. We
understand that you know your company and clients better
than anyone else, so we will need to turn to you when
it comes to providing text content for your site. If
you need our help in assisting you to write content
and take
photographs, we would be happy
to assist you. Please bear in mind that this assistance
in creating the actual content for your site will increase
the
overall cost and time to complete your web design project.
Can I just give you
an existing brochure to copy?
This is called “brochure-ware” which is converting
text, images, and concepts of one medium to another -
in this case, print to web. Unfortunately
with this approach, you might not be using your web site
to its fullest potential. However, it is one way
to get a web site up quickly or if you have a limited
budget. Ideally, you should try to create a new concept
for your web site.
Supporting Services:
You will need such services in place as a domain
name,
web
hosting, and in the case of online stores, e-commerce
considerations. We can help you with all these
aspects as well.
